(5/31/10) - Honolulu called best in the US in annual quality of living survey. (5/30/10) - Hawaii again fares well in ranking of best beaches. (5/29/10) - State raises outlook for tourism this year as well as for Hawaii's gross domestic product. (5/19/10) - After several requests, here is something to balance out the dog-themed post from March: The classic "Herding Cats" commercial. (5/13/10) - Mortgage applications fell 9.5% after the deadline passes for the buyer tax credit. (5/12/10) - Hawaii has one of the lowest percentages of homeowners with negative equity (owing more than a property is worth) in the nation. According to this interesting chart that percentage is less than 10% for Hawaii. (5/10/10) - The sales figures for April for the Oahu real estate market have been released by the Honolulu Board of Realtors®. Here is a single-page set of charts showing the last 12 months of data. Once again, the buyer tax credit pushed sales upward. Median prices where down a little but within an even band of prices for the last twelve months. Inventory was fairly steady.
