- No surprise, with the expiration of the original tax credit (which has now been extended), existing home sales sank nationally in December. (1/25/10)

- New Central Oahu subdivision by Castle & Cooke would create 5,000 homes. (1/22/10)

- HUD helps to speed resale of foreclosed or investor-purchased properties by waiving the 90-day FHA anti-flipping rule. Some conditions still apply and are outlined on HUD's website. (1/18/10)

- A seven-year lease for the Fisherman's Wharf restaurant at Kewalo Harbor was awarded to a new operator. With planned restoration and remodeling this could be a nice upgrade for the area. (1/18/10)

- Something positive. Fewer Honolulu sellers made price reductions of their listing price last month. Honolulu also has a low percentage of reduced inventory when compared nationally. (1/14/10)

- Fan and Fred: Frauds by design? More on the problems with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the damage caused by the Community Reinvestment Act. (1/13/10)

- Home prices fall, sales up. The December, 2009 data is out for the Oahu real estate market from the Honolulu Board of Realtors®. Here is a single page synopsis of the last 12 months. Compared to some areas on the mainland, Oahu has had a better year than many. Prices have been down but fairly stable, sales have been surprisingly active, and inventory is low.
